VERGELEGEN

Founded on 1 February 1700, Vergelegen Wine Estate has a rich history spanning more than 300 years, since Simon van der Stel’s son bought the land. In 1700 it would take 3 days by mode of an Oxtail Wagon to reach the farm, hence it was named Vergelegen, meaning ‘situated far away,’ in English. Vergelegen Wine Estate is one of the most magnificent estates in Cape Town known for its wine, but also it’s beautiful gardens and luscious nature. The Estate is home to 5 Camphor Trees that are said to have been standing since they were planted in 1700. The trees stand guard over the historic Vergelegen Homestead. This venue is one of the most prestigious and grand places to host guests for a seated dinner.
